Does mineral/vitamin deficiency affect the health of our mouth cavity?

Maintaining the right amount of vitamins and minerals within our body is essential for every human being. It also affects the state of our teeth and mouth cavity a lot. Even the smallest deficiencies might lead to many ailments of our teeth and gums. In this article we’re going to showcase the most common consequences of consuming not enough vitamins and minerals and what should we eat in order to fix this.

Vitamin PP deficiency

Symptoms: drooling, brown coating on the tongue, burning sensation in our mouth.
How to fix the deficiency? We need to increase the amount of dairy, wholegrain products, tomatoes, peanuts, legumes and buckwheat in our diet.

Iron deficiency

Symptoms: small mouth ulcers, lumps or blisters on our tongue.
How to fix the deficiency? Simply increase the amount of green leafy vegetables, cornflakes, soy, lentil, bean and pumpkin seeds you consume.

Vitamin D3 deficiency

Symptoms: cracking teeth.
How to fix the deficiency? Enjoy the sunlight, eat lots of fish and take supplements.

Silicon deficiency

Symptoms: weakened enamel, gum diseases, temporomandibular joint pain.
How to fix the deficiency? You should eat lots of brown rice, brans, radishes, cabbages and white onion.

Calcium deficiency

Symptoms: weakened teeth, periodontitis.
How to fix the deficiency? We can consume a lot of dairy, herrings, green vegetables, cornflakes and hazelnuts.

Vitamin B2 – riboflavin deficiency

Symptoms: dry mouth, cheilosis, chapped edges of our mouth.
How to fix the deficiency? Consume a lot of fungi, soy, peas, spinach, bean, wholegrain bread, fat fish, long maturing cheese, millet groats and dairy (especially cottage cheese).

Vitamin C deficiency

Symptoms: swelling and bleeding of gums, blotches and inflammations of oral cavity.
How to fix the deficiency? You should eat lots of citruses, kiwi, strawberries, paprika, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage (sour as well) and briar.
